It’s great that she wants to meet you - I can understand her being worried, coming back from holiday to find all these messages asking about her nephew.
It’s tricky to know the best way to play this one… I am not sure complete honesty is the best policy - I mean if you go in saying you are investigating a murder, she might close off completely. Also, she might wonder why you are asking, not the police.
Although on the other hand, she sounded quite nice in her message. Maybe you don’t need to tell her that Malham is a potential suspect; perhaps it will be enough to say that your friend’s uncle died in Peru and you are trying to track down the people that spent time with him in the lead up to his death. That way, you can show her the photo with Malham in the background (for credibility, and to get a positive id) and she may be sympathetic and help. Then if she does check up any details with Malham, it won’t look too suspicious. And you won’t have to tell any outright lies.
Good luck - and use all your natural charm!
